Tuesday Toppers: 4th of July

It's so great to be back, and just in time to make some cupcakes for the 4th of July! We always grill out and do a few fireworks here at home and it always ends up being a great time with the family! In this weeks edition I'm going to show you how to make the little Flag, but if you'd like to make the hat too you can go here. All you need to do is just use white and blue for the hat and trim and use a food safe marker for the stripes. Now for the flag here's what you'll need:

flag12

-Rolling pin
-Knife
-Fine tip paintbrush (or toothpick)
-2" circle cookie cutter (i used a 1 3/4" , but I'd recommend going up to the 2")
-White gel food coloring
-White, red, and blue fondant

flag11

-Divide the ball of white in half and roll out one half to about 1/8".

flag10

-Take the circle cutter and cut out a disc. Set aside.

flag9

-Roll out the remaining white, blue, and red to 1/8".

flag8

flag7

-Cut stripes from the red and white and cut a square from the blue.

flag13

-Alternate the red and white, starting with red. (4 red and 3 white)

flag6

-Cut the ends off to make it square.

flag5

-Place blue square in the corner to use as a guide and cut the top 3 stripes.

flag4

-Remove the excess stripes and put the blue in their place.

flag3

-With a little water attatch to circle (i definitely think a 2" circle would be better!!)

flag2

-Taking fine tip paintbrush (or toothpick), add in as many dots as you can fit comfortably.

flag1

-I was able to fit 20 on here. Obviously its not an accurate flag, but I still think people will get the gist :D

I'm back!!

First off I have to say thank you to all of you that emailed or left comments. It meant so much coming back and reading all of them! My Grandma was a very special person in my life, and we all are going to miss her so much. I had actually intended to start back up again last week and do a tribute to her, but we had some computer problems that left me without my laptop for about a week (i'm not sure how i survived, lol). So this week i'm going to do some July 4th cupcakes and then next week i'm going to do that tribute.

I'm also going to try and get caught up on my emails this week so if you've emailed me thank you for your patience and i'll try and get them caught up as soon as I can.

See you tomorrow!
Julie :D

Taking a break

I'm afraid i'm going to have to take a short break from my blog. My dear grandma passed away and I need to take some time away to help my parents get things in order and just take some time away from the computer for myself. She was so unbelievably caring and giving and I can't even begin to put into words how much I am going to miss her.

I'll be back soon and I know that all of you lovely readers will understand. I won't be doing the tuesday toppers for a week or two, and I have a slight back log of emails and I won't be answering any new ones until I come back. please bear with me I will try to get the email answered as quickly as possible once I get back.

Thank you so much everyone. I'll see you soon!
