Tuesday Toppers: Father's Day Cupcakes

With Father's Day fast approaching I sat down to make some toppers just for the dads out there. Luckily i've been blessed to have one of the greatest dads on the planet! I love you daddy! (no i'm not sucking up, what are you talking about :D) I've also been blessed to have an amazing hubby who is also an amazing father to our two little sweeties. Love you babe! So I picked some of their favorite things and made these just for them. This week i'm going to show you how to make the little hammer and here's what you'll need to make one:

hammer15

-Fondant smoother
-Knife
-Paint brush and water
-Leaf veiner
-Brown and gray fondant

hammer14

- Take brown ball of fondant and roll into a log.

hammer13

-Taper at one end.

hammer12

-For hammer top, take larger ball of gray.

hammer11

-And roll into a log.

hammer10

-Flatten one end with your finger.

hammer9

-Take a knife and cut a slit into flattened end.

hammer8

hammer7

-To make the head of the hammer take the smaller ball and flatten it with the fondant smoother.

hammer6

hammer5

- Take Leaf veiner and make a hole for the handle to go into (don't go all the way through).

hammer4

-With a small amount of water attatch the two pieces of the top together.

hammer3

-Now apply a small amount of water into hole and insert base.

hammer1

It's hammer time!!

  11. Hi Julie :D

May I ask? How long does a finished fondant last? And how do you store it?

    Thank you!

  13. Fifi- for finished items I would give them about a week in a NONE air-tight container (very important or you'll have sticky soft figures or toppers) like a cake box. I store my unused fondant wrapped in plastic wrap and then in a ziplock bag in the frigde for up to a month. HTH :D
Bundle2baby- thank you! i'll have to come check it out!
